" I have struggled with debilitative Parkinson’s disease for about 5 years. In conjunction, I experienced periodic health crises which further sapped my residual energy. Western medical doctors were impressed with my determination and recoveries, but my energy was not self-sustaining. I needed to go beyond mere survival and get some life back.
Dr. Niantsu Lee, acupuncturist in Maryland, referred me to Dr. Zhiliang Huo in Florida. Dr. Huo is considered to be a leader by his peers in the US and China for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease using scalp acupuncture techniques.
I was an outpatient at Dr. Huo’s clinic on three occasions. I arrived with an advanced edema condition with 40 or so pounds of fluids in my feet, ankles and lower legs. Due to the associated risk, edema was the first treatment priority with Parkinson’s as secondary. Treatments for the edema by other doctors had been without success.
When first arrived in Florida, my walk was meandering and stooped with a shuffling gate, eyes to the floor and little of the balance we take for granted. My best tool was a cane. My back and neck muscles were rigid and I could not right myself. My thinking was muddled and I had a vision loss. I had little body strength and rising and sitting were difficult and risky. In one moment of zero control, I injured myself due to a backward fall down a flight of stairs. My operative energy was flat. I had no residual energy.
After each Florida trip, treated by Dr. Huo, I had a period of energy and hope, followed by a quick return to my old self. As inspiring as Dr. Huo is, the distance presents severe limits for me due to the complexity and condition of my body. I could not hold onto my successes if the treatment were discontinued.
Dr. Huo referred me to Dr. Changping Yao in Maryland, who was trained by Dr. Huo and uses his unique acupuncture techniques in her Bethesda clinic.
Under Dr. Yao’s treatment and with her insight, dedication and instruction, I have experienced remarkable changes, my symptoms have all greatly improved. I am animated, I am aligned, I can see, walk and think better than at any time since the advent of Parkinson’s. I cannot do the Tango, but wait a few weeks.
I feel very fortunate to be Dr. Yao’s patient because she is an excellent acupuncturist with a loving heart for her patients."
My name is Kim. I grew up with half of my family being surgeons, so I had a lot of medical knowledge as a child. I wanted to be a doctor when I grew up but, instead, I became a patient. For the last 30 years I struggled with lots of complicated medical problems. I had undergone numerous heart surgeries and had gotten to the point where I couldn't get through my day, almost every day. I was in Chronic Heart Failure. My girlfriend Bonnie had been talking about how Dr. Changping Yao had successfully treated her. Bonnie was very healthy. I was very impressed.
I started treatment with Dr. Changping Yao several months ago. I needed pacemaker surgery and I was't well enough to under go the surgery. I began acupuncture treatment with Dr. Changping Yao with a completely open mind. As the treatments progressed I was able to have more good days than bad. I felt stronger and could breath better than I ever dreamed. By the time of my surgery I knew I could go through it and do well.
I was very impressed by Dr Changping's mastery of the human body and her ability to help me. She demonstrated repeatedly her capacity to integrate the information of my ongoing medical problems into her specialized treatments.
I really feel that Dr Changping Yao really knows how to help people.
Her treatments are very specific to every patient and she has a wide knowledge base which is essential to effective outcomes.
"My name is Mandy. Changping began treating me August 2011, 10 months before I found out that my cancer had reappeared. Between February and April I went through four rounds of Chemotherapy treatment. A few weeks after the treatments, a CT scan showed that chemo had no impact on the tumors... In August 2011, I met Changping through one of my co-workers whom she had treated before. I didn’t waste any time. I started acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments and continued with them until my surgery date in October. When I awoke from the surgery, my husband told me that the surgeon found no signs of cancer. In addition to what he saw, the surgeon took some biopsy samples, all of which were negative for cancer. She is an amazing healer and caring person. I highly recommend Changping to anyone who is suffering from any kind of disease."
"After my daughter was born I had an extreme eczema flare. I had red scaly patches around my eyes and on my throat. I looked like a racoon, it was both uncomfortable and unattractive. My doctor had prescibed a high level steriod creme, but let me know that since I was breastfeeding my daughter she may ingest small doses of the steriod. I wanted to avoid that at all costs. Changping had successfully treated me for my asthma during my pregnency whenever I flew to Maryland to visit my mother, so I called her and set up an appointment. I flew from San Diego to Maryland in order to see Changping. She treated me immediately, within three days my eczema had greatly improved. I no longer itched and it was unnoticable to others. I would highly recommend Changping to anyone seeking noninvasive and sucessfull treatment."
"Changping has been my pain reliever for the past few years. Because of the work I do – sitting all day typing, I developed carpal tunnel and tennis elbow a few years ago, which severely affect my job function. I tried a few acupuncturists and didn’t see much relieve. Then I came to Changping. She evaluated me thoroughly and started treating me with her plan – treating the symptoms (i.e. needles on the forearms) and improving overall blood/energy balance (i.e. needles on other part of the body as well). After a few months of treatment, I have been almost completely symptom free for many years and remain symptom free even now.
I also had mild arthritis on my knees which make my knees feel weak and rigid in the morning. Sometimes it bothered me a lot during normal walking. Changping has also been treating my knee problems periodically whenever the symptom flared up. I know arthritis is usually very difficult to treat. But I am happy to say that my flare-up experience becomes less and less frequent and therefore my treatment sessions become less and less frequent too. It has been more than a year that I don’t need treatment on my knees.
Now Changping is treating my neck/shoulder pain which I think is also a result of long hours of office work. Again her approach is to not only treat the symptoms, but also to balance the body energy by putting needles on other part of the body too. It does work very well for my pain relieve and relaxation.
I am very grateful to Changping for her treatment of my various pain problems over the past few years. The reason I continue seeing her is because she is very caring, personal and responsible. Unlike some acupuncturists I saw before who put the needles in, turn on the music, and walk away, Changping always remain near me during the treatment sessions and talk to me if I desire. I always feel that I get plenty personal attention from her during the treatment, so that she understands my illness background. I think the key of her success in treating different types of diseases of different patients is that her treatment plan is always patients oriented, not just symptom oriented. I highly recommend Changping to anyone who wants treatment given by someone who makes you feel that she truly cares about you."
"My high school son was playing baseball with some neighborhood friends. When it was his turn to bat, he jumped off the fence he had been sitting on. He winced when he hit the ground, but of course, he went on to play the game. The ankle continued to hurt and was swollen. We took him to the emergency room and his foot was examined and x-rayed. The doctor said no bones were broken, but the tissue was bruised. The doctor recommended Motrin for pain. My son was scheduled to go to football camp in six weeks. Four weeks later he was still on Motrin and his ankle was swollen and painful. We were concerned that the ankle would get worse during football camp and asked Changping Yao if acupuncture might help. She said his condition might take two or three treatments to resolve. My son was eager to recover and go to football camp so he decided to try the acupuncture. He was curious about it and had no problem with his first and only acupuncture treatment. He also only needed on treatment. All of the swelling was gone in a few days. We were surprised and relieved. Thank you Changping Yao. You did a wonderful job restoring my son’s ankle."
